FOODIE FINDS

Cambridge Farmers Market is a good old-fashioned farmers market that is on every Saturday from 8am-12noon in the beautiful setting of Victoria Square. With a lovely atmosphere, live music, and a great mix of local stallholders who grow, make and create beautiful fresh produce, preserves and ready to eat meals for you. Vendors offer milk, eggs, meat, fish, honey, coffee, bread and other baked goods, muesli, chocolate, hot and take-away meals, preserves, and in season fruit and vegetables.

Wholly Cow butchery is more than just meat! They are unique in that they are an independent, sustainable whole animal butchery. They farm and process their own beef, lamb and goat, as well as stocking free farmed pork and chicken. They are pro-actively creating a circular system to ensure more positive outcomes for planet, people + animals, such as creating their own compostable packaging, trays and clingfilm. Customer are encouraged to bring their own containers.

Dantes Fine Foods and The Store are local artisan deli’s that offer a “world of food”. From local and award-winning specialty handcrafted cheese (and everything to go with cheese) to Belgian chocolates, fancy chopping boards, Italian pasta, freeze dried food, Dutch waffles, artisan bread and more. They also cater to a wide variety of dietary needs and stock frozen goods such as Duck Island Icecream, par-baked bread, specialty pies, and Salmon. Volare on empire street stocks New Zealand’s best sausage rolls, croissants, hot cross buns and specialises in sour dough breads.

Fillgood is a wholefood heroes and organic grocery store, offering bulk bin wholefoods, eco-friendly and refill cleaning products. Lots of yummy products to nourish the body inside and out.



OP SHOPS & MARKETS

The second Sunday of every month sees the main street come alive for the “Trash n Treasure” Market – consisting of over 200 stalls and a variety of products at bargain prices. Stallholders come from around the upper north island, selling New Zealand and handmade goods, produce, plants, pre-loved products and collectibles.

Cambridge has a great cluster of second-hand shops. “Mint” is the newbie on the block and is a place to buy and sell your clothes and fashion items on behalf – encouraging recycling and doing its bit to slow down fast fashion.  You will also find the “Lions Shed” Second hand shop, including larger household items, open on Thursday and Saturday mornings on Vogel street.

Cambridge has a cluster of great Op Shops on Duke and Anzac streets – Salvation Army, Hospice and Animal Rescue – stocking a selection of clothing, footwear, homewares, linen, sports gear, children’s clothing and toys, and some great retro furniture. Across the bridge in Leamington there is the popular general op-shop called “Jumble Around” which has been operating for more than 50 years and donates profits to Cambridge Community groups.

Opening hours vary a little between stores, but most are open 10am-4pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings
