The University of Waikato has a student population of about 12,000, including 2,000 international students, and 4,000 complete a qualification annually.
The main campus is in the suburb of Hillcrest (19 kms and 18 mins drive from Cambridge) while a satellite campus is located nearby in Ruakura Rd (for Continuing Education courses).
The university employs almost 2,000 academic and support staff for five faculties (Arts and Social Sciences, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Education, Law, Science and Engineering). The university also has a School of Maori and Pacific Development, and is home to the Waikato Management School, a leading business school.
Wintec has three campuses in Hamilton, with its main campus almost in the centre of the city. Its Rotokauri Campus is about 10 minutes drive north of the CBD on a 56 hectare site, providing trades workshops, a specialist training restaurant and kitchens, and sports science labs.
The institute's Horticulture Education Centre is located at the Hamilton Gardens on the Cambridge side of the city.
