Cambridge's pre-school youngsters are well provided for with more than 20 kindergartens, playcentres, pre-schools and other early learning facilities available.

Some have waiting lists and the kindergartens generally accept children in their third year as vacancies arise.

pre-school cambridge-isiteMany families are eligible to receive a Childcare Subsidy to help pay fees of those who are under five and attend a pre-school facility for at least three hours a week. You can check whether you qualify for the subsidy here.

The town has two kohanga reo where children can learn Maori language (Te Reo), and several pre-school music and dance groups. Sport Waikato run a weekly under 5's Music & Movement class and a Jumping Beans Class for kids.

Cambridge has many playgrounds for youngsters including those in Te Ko Utu Park (Thornton Rd), Leamington Domain, Lindsay Park (cnr Coleridge St and Pope Terrace), Shelley St, Froude St Reserve (Froude St), Maclean St, Tulip Drive and Gwyneth Common (bounded by Scott, Carlyle, Thompson and Browning Streets).
